----------------------------------------------------
The afternoon light filtered into the aqua common room,
illuminating the spaces it could reach and casting long shadows on those it could not. Students were milling about
every where, and most were chatting or doing homework.
Well, Aidan was. That stupid Maths teacher, why did he
need to give his class extra maths homework. Aidan sighed, blonde fringe falling into his right eye just slightly. The boy
squinted his grey eyes at the sums on the page, this was
no use, he wasn’t taking any of this in. Pushing back from
the table he sat at, Aidan picked up the text book and
stuffed it back in his bag. He pushed the bag under the
table and then headed for the door out of the common
room.
A few minutes later, the male was walking across the
neatly trimmed grass of the school grounds. His black
converse scuffed the short green blades as he moved,
dark denim clad legs fairly long for a guy. Aidan stopped,
he glanced across to the playing filed, but there were
quite a few groups of students wandering around them.
When Aidan looked across at the lake, he could see two
or three couples sharing romantic moments, and he didn’t
want to be the one to spoil it for them.
So, maybe he could find solace in the woods? Aidan
started off walking again, but he looked more purposeful
this time around. He soon found himself at the edge
of the woods, where the coniferous trees started to
rise up into the sky. Maybe there would be a puddle or
something he could practise using his element with,
Aidan mused dryly. He stepped into the shadows of
the trees, and in seconds had vanished into the woods
depths, though you could hear the steady footfalls from
within the woods, letting you know what way he'd gone.
Aidan soon came off the main track most of the students
took through the woods, and started picking his way
through the undergrowth, until he came to a new, thinner
track that looked like it very rarely had people taking a
stroll along it. Aidan took a moment to detach his hoodie
sleeve from the thorn of a bramble, then kept on moving
through the trees. The sun was sinking rapidly, and the
light all around the boy was dim, if not a little eerie. Finally,
the place he had been searching for came into view, a
small clearing, and towards the south edge of it was
a dark pool of water. There was evidence of students
lighting a fire out here, since the charred ends of twigs and
branches were visible in the poor light.
He came here sometimes just to draw, maybe do a bit of
reading, but more often than not it was to practice in
privacy, rather than having the prying eyes of students
watching you if you made a mistake. Here it was different,
the only thing that was likely to pass any judgment on you
in the clearing would be a squirrel. Aidan walked over to
the water, looking into its glass like surface, his pale
features reflected perfectly. He took a step back, and
then lifted his left hand slightly. The water before him
quivered, its surface broken by ripples, and then, from
the centre of the pool the water rose up, the shapes
surface uneven. Aidan's eyes narrowed, fixing them
intently on the water.
It wasn’t long before what he wanted to happen, did.
The water began too cloud, becoming harder
to see through and finally became a solid column of ice.
He lifted his hand a little higher, the ice following it as
though it were attracted to it. He clenched his fist, and
the ice broke up into shards, though remained suspended
there in the air. Then he pulled the clenched fist back to his
chest, the ice shards followed it and this time when he
opened his palm and turned it upwards, the shards fell
onto it and remained there, un-melted, like shards of
crystal. Aidan watched them for a few seconds, and then
they melted away, and the water dripped off his hand.
Aidan shook it clear of the droplets, and then lowered
himself into a sitting position on the dry ground just far
enough away from the waters edge, and then fell back
and folded his arms behind his head. He looked up at
the sky, now defiantly dark, its surface a deep navy blue.
Stars twinkled far off in the distance and he felt transfixed
when watching them, the scene around him was
illuminated by the faint glow of the moon, he felt so
relaxed here, probably because he was so close to water.
And slowly that sensation of drowsiness swept across him,
Aidan fought to keep his eyes open, but after days of
looking through old text books and copying stuff down,
all he wanted to do was sleep, and sue enough, the boy
dozed off.

Lily ran her fingers distractedly through her hair before trying yet again to get the melody flowing from her fingers the way she wanted it to. Sure, she had the notes right and all that jazz - it was the way it sounded she didn't like. Vittorio Monti, she thought, slightly annoyed, was it really necessary to make Czardas so annoying? She tried again a few more times without success then packed away her violin, frustrated beyond her normal emotional capacity.
She felt caged in this school - she couldn't exactly contact Maddie or Alex unless she called by mobile which would cost her a fortune - and there was a constant feeling she was being judged. Sha had hoped when first at Ludus that she'd be easily accepted but that had gone down the drain in her first week and she gave herself up to solitude with only a few friends who were more like accquaintances rather than anything else.
It was stuffy inside her small single room even with the window open and she decided she neded fresh air. She changed from her skirt and top of the daytime into jeans, a shirt and a thin grey cardigan. Slipping on her black ballet flats she stepped out of the rather warm Ignis common room and made her way down to the grounds having lost her appetite earlier that day due to the headache from earlier that had unfortunately started up again, making her feel lightheaded. An unconfortable clawing at her stomach made her frown - she hadn't eaten for ages properly because she'd been feeling unwell for the last week.
Wincing she set off through the trees singing softly to herself as she was apt to doing:
'Are you going to Scarborough Fair? parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme Remember me to one who lives there, she once was a true love of mine...'
Rounding a tree Lily was suddenly faced with the back of another student, presumably, who was evidently practising with his own element, Aqua. She was silent very suddenly unsure as to how to react - whether she should say hello or not. Surely he'd heard her singing to herself anyway...she hadn't been aware there would be other people around.

The boy however, had been lacking sleep ever since
he'd started studying the commands he could use,
often practicing them as he had been today. Aidan had
taken not of the upcoming battles that were taking
place between the students, and although he could
hardly wait for his chance to prove himself, he was also
feeling a little dread. But then again so was every other
student, an electric sense of rivalry had been stuck in
the corridors for the past week, even if you accidentally
knocked shoulders with a passer-by, it often ended up in
a small scuffle. The tension was mounting, and everyone
was feeling it.
But falling asleep, he felt a sudden calmness spread over
him. So close to water, he felt home. The boys
lids closed across his eyes, and he fell asleep, his breath
deepening and becoming more drawn out as he slept.
He made a serene picture someone watching might
have thought, so calm and at ease with the world.
Even in the approaching twilight, he seemed unafraid
of the gathering darkness. Aidan's mind began to
wander, running through the fields of a dreams he
found himself, with no beginning and no end.
His eyes snapped open, what? Where was he? Aidan
stared about him, everything was a bionic white. He
was lying on an uncomfortable bed with a thin mattress,
no pillow supported his head and a thin sheet covered
his body. There were sounds of distant voices,
discussing something heatedly. Aidan pushed himself
up from the bed, the sheets falling off him. To his
shock and surprise he was only wearing his boxers.
Where the hell had the rest of his clothes gone?!
Aidan looked fervently about him, but they were
nowhere to be seen. But he felt oddly drawn to the
sounds of the voices. He wanted to know what they
were saying.
Aidan tip-toed across to the door, and opened it a
fraction, craning his head to see what was going on.
But the voices moved away again. He opened the
door a little more, nothing. Finally, the boy opened
it wide and stepped into the white corridor, then
straight away he fell flat on his face on a gravely
type surface. The world had darkened, the white
room had vanished, and there were no more voices.
Where he lay now, felt familiar. And he pushed
himself up on his hands, standing to his full height once
more. He almost gasped when he realised where he
was. His old house, it looked perfectly the same, only
there were no cars parked in the driveway.
He took a step towards the front door but then he
heard noises from behind him, the sounds of soft
footfalls, but they were hurried and purposeful. He
looked furtively over his shoulder, consciously aware he
was still wearing the same as he had been in the
room from before. He dived behind one of the box
hedges by the porch to hide himself from view. Up
the path came seven figures, and Aidan had a sudden
feeling of deja vu. He stopped dead then, realising
where and when he was now, and he felt a cold sweat
creep across him. And then, with a sickening lurch
in his stomach, he heard that dreadful, helpless, female
scream.
Aidan jerked awake, his eyes shot open and he was
breathing heavily, not like the gentle intakes of air he had
been taking in before. But it calmed he to know it was
just a dream, a recollection of the past. Of his sister, of how.
He shook his head, clearing his mind of those terrible
images and thoughts. But, it was only now, he felt odd,
now why was that? A shiver travelled up his spine and
he sat bolt upright, his head turning quickly behind him
and he saw a shadow in the gloom of the trees.
Aidan jumped, his heart beating faster and faster, not
expecting to see anyone there. But when he looked
closer, the girl, whoever she was, could quite easily be
from Ludus Elementum. ''Er... hey'' he said
quietly, feeling an awkward mood settle over him.

A soft smile slipped across her features. "Hi. Sorry about my singing if you heard it - it's a second nature to me really." She bit her lip, unsure as to what to say. She'd never been good at starting conversations. "Um, I'm Lily by the way. From Ignis." SHe didn't add she was a first degree - too many people had thought her stuck up whenever she tacked that onto the end of her introductions.
She looked down at her hands for a second waiting for an answer.
ooc - sorry it's REALLY short.
